According to Forbes magazine, there are five personality traits that the most successful entrepreneurs have in common. What are they? Do you have them? Can you get them?
Keep reading to find out what they are. With respect to whether you have them and/or can get them, the answer is yes to both. Everyone has what it takes to be successful inside. You do, too!
1. Love for What They Do
The most successful entrepreneurs in the world love what they do. If they didn’t, they couldn’t do it. If you have a fantastic business idea, that isn’t enough to make it happen, you have to have a passion for it, too. Forbes reports that research shows the most successful entrepreneurs are driven by what’s in their heart. They have “an unshakable sense of purpose.” This is why so many people turn their love into their business. They love what that business does, which prevents them from quitting.
2. Speaking of Quitting…
One of the most famous quotes by one of the most famous British prime ministers is, “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.” Spoken by Sir Winston Churchill , the importance of this quote cannot be overstated. You will fail in your business ventures. Heck, you may even fail in your career. The point is you cannot quit. You can get discouraged a little, but you must pick yourself off and move forward with even greater enthusiasm and determination.
3. Self Importance
Many successful entrepreneurs are, well, arrogant. While this isn’t a good personality trait to have in most instances, it is when you need the confidence to seek out funding, market your business, beat your competition, and expand. You don’t have to be a jerk, but you do need to have self-confidence and an unshakable motivation to succeed. You are important. Your business idea is important. Now look in the mirror, love yourself, and then get out there with the confidence you need to succeed.
4. Willingness to Change
Opening, running, and growing a business requires an ability to adapt. You must be able to go with the flow, even if the flow isn’t headed in the direction you want. People change and their desires change. You might enter into your market sharing the same passions your customers do, only to find out in a year they’ve changed their minds and you’ve lost them to your competition. You must be flexible to be a successful entrepreneur. You must address what people want and need despite your own feelings.
5. Expansive Vision
Finally, “You must have the vision that nobody else does,” as Forbes puts it. For example, you could go into business for yourself and sell Philadelphia life insurance , but if you use the same approach every other agent uses in your market, you’ll get lost in the shuffle. You must see things others can’t, and then show people what you see and why they need it. Think about the movers and shakers in business today. How did Jeff Bezos see Amazon before it became Amazon? What do you see?
You have all of these traits inside you. You just need to figure out how to manifest them. Once you do, you will become the successful entrepreneur you know you can be. Own it!
